Scope of Works

  • Excavation and subgrade preparation
  • Type 1 sub-base installation (150mm compacted)
  • 200mm reinforced concrete slab (C35)
  • V-profile drainage channel installation
  • Slurry reception tank construction
  • Cattle grid and headwall installation
  • 180m farm access track resurfacing
  • Site drainage connections

This large-scale farm hardstanding project transformed a muddy, unusable farm yard into a safe, efficient operational hub for a major livestock enterprise. The 2,500m² reinforced concrete slab was designed to withstand the combined loads of heavy livestock vehicles, telescopic handlers, and slurry tankers — with a minimum 200mm thickness and C35 specification concrete throughout. Central V-profile drainage channels direct slurry and effluent to a purpose-built reception tank, keeping the yard compliant with current farm pollution regulations. A single-pass cattle grid was installed at the main access point with concrete headwalls and wing walls. The project also included resurfacing of 180m of farm access track in recycled concrete aggregate. Completed in an 8-week summer programme to minimise disruption to the livestock operation.
